GIOVANNI AMATO was born in Lower Nocera in the Salerno Province, Italy, where he began playing the trumpet at the age of eight under the guidance of his father. When he was 16, he joined the „Elbas Jazz Group” and with them gave concerts in many clubs in Naples. In 1989 he received a diploma from the Conservatory of Music Giuseppe Martucci Di Salerno. Since 1990 he has been playing with various orchestras and artists such as: Tom Harrell, Lee Konitz, Danilo Perez, Steve Grossman, Gary Peacock, Billy Hart, George Garzone, Jerry Bergonzi, Bill Russo. Giovani participated in the concert tour „I love you more” with the Mario Blonde’s Band. He plays in jazz clubs around the world and won „Best Jazz Act” at the Italian Jazz Awards. He has taken part in the eight editions of the Umbria Jazz Festival and currently performs with the orchestra accompanying Mario Blonde’s performances during concert tours.
