DAVID MERCIER (France) – trumpet soloist in the Orchestre Chambre Du Valais, director of the Union Instrumental d’Hermance of Geneva and Orchestre d’Harmonie Municipal of Chambéry
DAVID MERCIER was born in 1983 in Évian-les-Bains, France. He began to learn playing the cornet under W. Trolliet. In 2003, he obtained the Musical Studies Diploma in the class of M. Ricquier at the National Conservatory of Chambéry. In 2006, he was admitted to the Haute École de la Musique de Lausanne (HEMU) in Fribourg, Switzerland, where he obtained a bachelor of arts in 2009, and a master’s degree in pedagogy and master’s degree in musical interpretation in 2011.
In 2013-2015, he held the position of trumpet soloist in the Symphony Orchestra of Zurich. He is currently a trumpet soloist in the Orchestre Chambre du Valais. He is also regularly invited to play under the baton of prestigious maestros in orchestras including Orchestre de l’Opéra de Lausanne, Sinfonietta de Lausanne, Symphonia Genève, Orchestre Bande-Son, Musiques en fêtes or Sedenum String Orchestra. Since 2016, he has been the director of the Union Instrumental d’Hermance, Genève, Switzerland and in 2018 was appointed the director of Orchestre d’Harmonie Municipal in Chambéry, France. He has been Galileodolce artist since 2018.
